Moxibustion or Moxa uses the power of herbs and heat to activate blood flow and thereby intensify the function of energy circulation (Qi) within the body. The process entails the burning of cones made from Mugwort plant on areas of the body to accomplish precise healing effects. While this process may sound painful, it is not. During the procedure, patients experience only a gentle warmth that penetrates or radiates. Acupuncture is often used in conjunction with this treatment to stimulate the body for a desired effect. Moxa is often used to warm and relax muscle tissue, joint spaces, abdominal and body acupoints. We may use the technique to reduce pain and regulate the function of the associated meridian /organ.
